Getting a steady supply of hot water in a superyacht is not always easy, despite the massive reserves available in such vessels. Hot water is required for a range of different activities, which can place a heavy burden on the heating systems.

Cathelco’s HEM have proposed an alternative new technology that aims to reduce strain while simultaneously improving the performance. Their system uses a cylinder which heats the water using a “tank within a tank”, allowing cold water to be heated quickly and efficiently.

This heat exchanger system is more compact than traditional solutions, meaning that a combination of HEM systems can take up less space while producing more hot water than similar solutions.
