Crestron, the global leader in workplace and smart home technology, announced a new Systems Technician Training Program specifically aimed at every crew member onboard a superyacht. The Superyacht Systems Technician Training Program is developed by the Crestron Training Institute in partnership with the Superyacht Electronics Academy (SEA), and can be taken online or in-person.

As a crew member on board a superyacht, managing the technologies and being able to troubleshoot in case of issues requires a certain level of knowledge and comfort. And that is exactly what the new Systems Technician Training Program has to offer. The AV training covers both the basic theory and practical side of AV on board superyachts. The five-day live class is open for every super yachting crew member that wants to feel comfortable while managing and troubleshooting AV systems, including Crestron, at sea. The program combines theory with practical exercises carried out on a real-world superyacht distributed AV system. This includes control systems, media switchers, Crestron DM NVX® AV over IP and Crestron DM NAX™ audio over IP, user interfaces, as well as wiring and communication protocols. The new Superyacht Systems Technician Training Program is exclusively included in the Superyacht Electronics Academy’s AV@SEA training course.

After following the new training, crew members will feel comfortable with AV systems onboard. If they want to further expand their knowledge, Crestron accommodates the need for ongoing education via its existing award-winning training program and through superyacht-specific training in partnership with the Superyacht Electronics Academy.

“Superyacht crew managing AV systems at sea deserve all the support they can get” said Daniel Kerkhof, Director, Crestron Marine. “Our new training program and certification opportunity reflect our commitment in that respect. It also serves as a foundation for those superyacht crew members who want to advance their maritime technology knowledge by attending classes via the Crestron Training Portal.”
