The Big Submersible Upgrade
Over the last couple of decades, companies like Triton Submarines have created, promoted, and solidified the industry of submersibles in several swift moves.
These small underwater vehicles represent a force to be reckoned with, owing largely to the fact that superyacht owners have chosen submersibles as some of their favourite on-board additions.
Despite this, the name of the game has always been functioning over luxury. Until now.
Aston Martin and Triton want to combine looks and functionality
The Monaco Yacht Show is the perfect place for those in the marine industry to make exciting announcements to enthusiasts, owners, and crew alike. Last year, Aston Martin and Triton Submarines shared big news for those interested in life under the sea.
The two companies announced a collaboration that will breathe life into Project Neptune, a futuristic submersible which will be built to fit the luxury design standards set by Aston Martin throughout the decades.
“We have used forms and proportions that express the same devotion to design, engineering, and beauty that shape our cars, such as the Aston Martin Valkyrie hyper-car project”, said Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s CCO.
This means that the submersible industry will soon have a collector’s item; a state-of-the-art vehicle that will look stunning on board any superyacht, developed by a brand that is synonymous with luxury and style.
The market is heading towards custom models
Submersibles are already something of a unique item as they are expensive to purchase and maintain, not to mention that they usually require some sort of specialist training to operate.
With Aston Martin and Triton creating the ultimate blend of comfort, luxury, and functionality, the ball is now in the court of other manufacturers to react appropriately and keep their share of the market.
Companies like Migaloo, for instance, have opted to create submersibles which are on the very expensive side of the scale but aim to be the best in every possible area; they are powerful machines, capable of more than ever before, yet with a unique air of luxury.
Similarly, Ocean Submarine’s Neyk range features a bar, galley, and library while being able to host up to 20 passengers and travel hundreds of nautical miles across the deep oceans. The price tag of about $24 million, however, means that this kind of submersible will only appeal to a certain type of owner.
In fact, the superyacht owner’s personality and the experiences they want to have with their new submersibles play a major role in the design and manufacturing of these underwater vehicles.
For instance, the DeepFlight Super Falcon 3S was designed to enhance underwater tourism. The 360-degree views offered by its bubble-like seating areas and its eco-friendly workings make it a fantastic choice for some exhilarating journeys under the sea.
